Acne is a skin condition that impacts millions of people and develops when
sebum, dead skin cells, or bacteria plug the hair follicles, leading to
inflammation. While this condition often affects adolescents the most, it is
also common among adults, resulting in red, painful pustules that leave behind
deeply rooted scars where clearing can get frustrating and overwhelming.
The good news is that with ClearSK's acne scars treatment in Singapore,
treating and healing even the most stubborn acne scars are entirely possible.

measures and its treatment options.
Acne Scars: How Do They Form?
When acne penetrates deep into the skin tissue, it causes damage to the deep
layers of your skin. This inflammation causes your acne pores and the
surrounding tissue to swell and break down, resulting in scarring. Our body
then works incredibly to naturally repair itself and form new skin tissue in
the area where the pimple was.
As the immune system directs white blood cells in surplus towards the pimples
area for healing, the skin produces new collagen that will serve as the
foundation of the new skin tissue. When white blood cells and collagen
production is excessive, the extra cells get transformed into a scar. The
deeper the damage caused by acne, the higher its chances of leaving permanent
scars, even after the pimples heal. This can often take a toll on one’s
emotional wellbeing and confidence.
Mild, moderate, or severe acne can cause
different types of
scars. This is why it’s important to first determine the severity of one’s acne
when attempting to treat marks or spots left behind.
How Severe Can Acne Get?
-
Mild acne: Mild acne is characterized by blackheads, whiteheads, a few
pustules and papules.
-
Moderate acne: Moderate or pustular acne mostly affects the face, causing
multiple pustules and papules to appear.
-
Moderately severe acne: This nodulocystic acne affects the face but may
extend to the chest and back. It is indicated by the presence of many
pustules, papules, and even the occasional inflamed nodules.
-
Severe acne: Severe nodulocystic acne is distinguished by numerous large,
inflamed, painful pustules and nodules.
Types of Acne Scars
Some scars are depressed and sit under the skin's surface, while others are
raised and sit above the skin. We discuss each one of these types here below;
Atrophic Scars
Atrophic scars are mainly caused by severe acne. These scars are depressed and
flat, sitting below the top layer of the skin. The appearance of these scars
varies from person to person, with the three main types being boxcar, ice
pick, and rolling scars.
-
Boxcar Scars: Boxcar scars appear like broad, shallow, box-like depressions
with sharply defined edges. They occur either oval or round in shape,
typically measuring with a length of 1.5mm to 4mm. These scars form mainly
on areas where the skin is relatively thick, like the lower area of the
cheeks and jaw. Other causes of boxcar scars include chickenpox and
varicella that often result in red, itchy blisters. These scars are
relatively easier to treat using skin resurfacing treatments.
-
Ice Pick Scars: Ice pick scars are small and narrow indentations common on
the cheeks and forehead areas where the skin is considerably thinner. The
v-shaped scars are less than 2mm wide and appear to point down, deep into
the skin, resembling the marks left by a long-thin instrument – like an ice
pick. These deep scars are challenging to treat, requiring aggressive,
persistent treatment.
-
Rolling scars: Rolling scars have sloping edges and varying depths, but are
generally shallow. They make the skin appear uneven and even wavy, with
scars as wide as 5mm. This type of scarring is common and often develops in
areas with thick skin, like the lower cheeks and the jaw area.
Hypertrophic and Keloid Scars
Hypertrophic and keloid scars are formed after the skin heals from acne
lesions and fibrous tissue of the skin grows. This scarring is usually raised
over the surrounding skin surface to appear as lumps on areas where your acne
pimples once were. Hypertrophic scarring affects your jawline, back, chest,
shoulders and are most common among people of colour.
These scars may feel itchy and painful. While your hypertrophic scars resemble
the exact size of the acne pimple that caused them, keloid scars appear
larger, growing beyond the original acne spot.
Other Marks Left by Acne
Some acne lesions leave marks on the skin that aren't necessarily scarring,
but may look darker or discoloured compared to your normal skin tone. This
condition is referred to as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. With time and
proper sun protection, your hyperpigmentation can clear without any acne scar
removal treatment, returning the skin to its natural colour. Persons of colour
and those that pick their acne are more likely to experience
hyperpigmentation.

Treating Acne using
Rejuran S
With ClearSK’s
Rejuran S
treatment, you can say goodbye to acne scars. It is a non-invasive procedure
that is quick, safe, and doesn't require anaesthesia or surgery.
Rejuran S
contains Polynucleotide (PN) from salmon DNA. The concentrated and viscous
solution is administered by injecting it directly into your skin area where
acne scars are present. The Rejuran then stimulates collagen regeneration and
remodelling of your dermis, filling up sunken scars and improving the
appearance of depressed ones. To soothe any discomfort you may experience
during the procedure, we apply a numbing cream to the area of concern. This
then allows for minimal pain perception.
After a procedure, it is normal to find small bumps over the treated skin
area. But don’t worry, we will supply you with an intensive recovery cream
that can be used to effectively massage down the bumps. Any needle marks or
bruising should recover within 5-7 days.
The
Rejuran S
price is fair, quoted at just S$298 – a small price to pay to never feel
insecure about your looks, with or without makeup!
While other treatments may only achieve 40-60% skin recovery success,
Rejuran S's ability to boost skin
healing and remodelling of collagen makes it
possible to achieve 80% skin improvement. Patients have reported a glow and
radiance to their skin, including smoother skin, reduced fine lines, and even
improved hydration.
